Let's go 2014

1 min read
I'm ready for 2014. I think its common to start a new year pledging to draw more, paint more, post more but I'm going to do so anyway.
Here's looking at you 2014, I hope you're better than 2013.

In an effort to constantly improve I'm trying to get more drawing in everyday. A lot of the time, that is just traditional sketching.
But expect to see more quick paintings in the near future as its something I really want to get better at and something I genuinely enjoy. I suspect a lot of it will be fan art and such to start but I'm also open to suggestions.

So :iconmrnostalgia: is having a contest and I did this so that I could join although I'm glad I had a chance to share some of these with everyone.
All of these artists have a skill and style I admire and although I'm not positive about how active they might be here on DA, I can say they are tons of fun to watch.

In no particular order,

:iconluigil: If you haven't seen it yet, Luigi's gallery is full of fun illustrations and tutorials. A tremendous talent.

:iconerinhunting: I love Erin's designs. Her work, especially her fanart is impossible for me to resist. I love seeing iconic characters from my childhood in Erin's style and I'm constantly blown away by the sheer volume of work she manages to produce.

:iconbeyx: Another artist with a genuinely unique style and lots of fun to watch. I love the cleanliness of her designs.

:icontinysnail: Such a cute style and I've always liked the guache/pastel look to her art.

:iconsprits: Her style speaks for itself. I'm a sucker for super-cute but she also has a really unique pallet and eye for colour.

I've been practising a lot lately. Or at least a lot more than usual. The nice part is that I can see improvements. Understanding that I still have a lot to learn and that I'll probably never be completely satisfied with my work, I still can't help but feel encouraged. One of the nice side effects of this renewed confidence is that I've finally started working on my upcoming comic project. Hopefully, I'll have more to share soon but for now, I hope you enjoy watching some more of my practice works.

There is more stuff coming soon. I promised myself I would not let Guild Wars 2 completely occupy my time and it hasn't... yet.

I've done a lot of my drawings without my tablet lately and I may share more of that later on. I usually hesitate to post un-coloured work since I feel like it's incomplete. However, if you see sketches and pencil drawings, it probably means I've accepted the fact that I'll never finish those.
Anyway, Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!
